This is evidence that those living in poverty with poor education and no prospects of job opportunities are more likely to engage in risky behaviors and criminal activity. LACAP sponsors "Making Right Choices" a program for youth to discourage and combat teen violence, drugs and alcohol. Students are instructed on how to deal with anger, disappointment and conflicts which usually lead to violence. Recreation and cultural enrichment are presented and provided as deterrents to crime.
