ABOUT US

The Louisiana Center Against Poverty, (LACAP) is a rural economic, community based, and human development nonprofit organization established in 1997. Our goals are to develop and implement projects and programs to address the academic, social, environmental, emotional and recreation problems in an effort to help alleviate some of the frustration and anguish associated with severe poverty in the northern parishes of Louisiana.

The Center is situated in the heart of Lake Providence, Louisiana, "The poorest place in America" (Time Magazine 1994 and Washington Post 2004).
